       Dibnah's Apprentice.

My house renovation has been spoken of more than once, and Tommy
acting as a solid base and extra reach for a ladder whilst I
re-roofed the main house was a documented image of Leafer
       utilitynessageness.
       He's back!!!
Having fitted a new fire and finished our lounge at the start of
Summer, there was a connected job on the exterior (partly in the
barn, truth be known) which needed doing, but as the fire, which
will supply the bedrooms with warm air, wasn't required for a
few months, I thought I'd get on with other stuff. However, it's
got a bit nippy in the mornings (rapidly returning to the 30s in
the after-lunch), indicating Autumn approaching...so the job had
       to be done.
The bit in the barn, I've been pecking away at for a good few
months, a few collars here and there, tying and strapping to the
wall as required, and even having to step the thing out and to
the side a bit to avoid main beams and rafters.
Last week, the Ifor canopy came off Tommy, and he was put in
       place again...

...in order that I could, today, finish my chimney...

       Straight on all planes...

I did actually do a couple of collars the other morning; but
only until 09:30, as the sun is still rising so fast and high
that it is was sucking moisture from the mortar a bit too fast.
Last four on today and the cap to top it off. Then I lobbed a
newspaper in the fire, lit it and watched with chuffedness as
       smoke billowed nicely.
A Leafer and the constructive side of steeplejacking.
