i have changed to Adrian Flux insurance and i would like to know
the rough valuation of my motor but have no idea where to start.
It has the following,
New Marsland Glave chassis
New Rocky Mountain Parabolics
New Pro Comp 9000 dampers
Galve Bulkhead
Galve front panel
200tdi engine
Overdrive
11" front brakes
All other removable parts such as pedel boxes, inner sills, brake
back plates, spring plate etc etc are all galvanized.
Can anyone help give me an idea of value please.
Also are 750 tyres a mod or were they a standard fitment to
series motors.
Cheers Dave.

You need to insure it for what it would cost to replace it!
If it where me I'd be saying £8000-£10000.
That's what I've done with my 80"
You go and try buy one the same as yours and see how much it
costs!

It's gonna be 5-6 easy isn't it? A bit more to cover your back
is no bad thing!

Replacing what you have will not give you much change from 10K
by the sound of it.
We had the Hybrid in Holland insured for 40k Euros. Do the sums
and prepare to be shocked...

The problem with such valuations is that in the event of a theft
or a 3rd party write-off (or even an 'own fault' one), unless
you've got all the valuable components documented with
photographs, bills and independent estimates at the time of the
insurance policy commencement, you'll have a dog's job getting
them to cough-up what is right. They'll argue the toss about the
fact that the motor never originally had paras, galvanized
structural parts, big front brakes and a turbo'd engine, 7.50
tyres (not standard on 88"s) because they're no different than
bookmakers in that they're in a risk business, so will do what
they legally can to minimize the loss.
You can put a valuation of 2 million if you want and they'll
happily adjust your premiums accordingly and get you no closer
to retrieving your losses (although nudging a little above what
it's actually worth, with the aforementioned 'evidence', will
offer a slightly better chance of grabbing back something
approaching what you've ploughed into it).
My policy (no pun intended) has always been to give a valuation
of a few hundred of whatever on a TPO agreement, enjoy lower
premiums and have the spatial awareness to avoid trouble on the
road.

That's why you have an agreed value Drew, certainly my insurance
co asked for pictures and in some cases ask for an independent
inspection. To be honest to put a agreed high value above say
£6000 on a S3 88 they will ask for a independent opinion, purely
because it's rare for similar vehicles to change hands for more
than that. After the to-and-fro Munkie had getting a decent
price for his Ambumlance I think getting an agreed value in
writing is worth the extra aggro and minimal cost (my premium is
still under £80 with Heritage).

I just think the whole principle of an 'agreed value' is a
cynical gesture by the insurance companies to mind-fuck people
into believing they're getting a good and fair deal from an
industry which has the trump hand of (understandable) legal
obligation on its side...but I'm a cynical kind if guy.
I'd just love to know how many owners of, say, a 1275GT with £5k
of perfection graft thrown into it and an agreed replacement
value of £8k (arbitrary model and figures), have walked away
from an oil-slick caused Bolan-esque tree hug write-off, only to
be completely satisfied that their fully comp. policy coughed up
on the big 8.
It's licenced piracy which tries to convince clients their ships
aren't being raided.
I can't really compare the low premiums I pay over here with
those in the UK, as it's a different arena. But be it here in
France or be it back in the day of residence in England, I've
never offered a huge valuation as, despite the work I do to keep
them topper, I've only ever seen the Leafers I love as
self-repairable or disposable combinations of metals.
My take and my position; perhaps a queer one to many. But, it
hasn't failed me yet.
