Does a 110 Salisbury axel fit my 109 Serie 2a?

I know that the axle attachment won't fit and is needed to be
modiefied for leaf sprung. But what does it mean for gearing?
       Prop shaft?

You get quite a bit of extra trackwidth...
Has been done in the past but why bother ? If you need disc
       brakes there are simpler ways.

One of the reasons they put plastic thingies on that coil
       thing....

Oh, thanks! I completely ignored the fact that the Defender axle
       is wider.
I'm after a Salisbury axel for my stock series 109 to exchange
       the Rover axle.

Most series 3 109s should have a Salisbury on the rear with a
standard 4.7 diff ratio, if you want to go to 3.54 diffs you can
swap one over out of a 110 Salisbury unit but they seem to be
       getting harder to find.

For a minute there we all assumed the worst. ;-)
The 109 Salisbury rear just needs a different length prop and
       away you go.

A bit of research reveals that your in Sweden.
Maybe a bit far for you to come and pick an axle up ::)
