Modern classics what I'd 'av if I didn't 'av a yard of leafers.

       Great topic, Rog.
Hardly a modern classic, except that it was the first in the
nexus and related to the later DS3, 4 and 5 models. But a few of
these barges could comfortably park themselves at my moorings.
Indeed, should some wallet-happy Frenchman decide he needs to
part with good Eurocash for one of my Leafers, in the future,
I'd be hunting down one of these, 'tho it would need to be in
some sick orange or green of the heyday of the model...

The DS looks like the kind of car the Jetsons would drive.
Opel Monza, Ferguson 4wd conversion If I had the spare cash. my
Dad had a Monza coupe 3 lt, I had a Royale saloon 2.8 lt.

My other favourite classic would be this, not so modern but
engine in the boot, what's not to like?

And this from just up the road, although I think it is now in
storage or in someone else's ownership (pic from last year or
       so):

He now has a 4x4 Fiat Panda. Pics to follow when I next see him.
Also, I had the great fortune to drive a LHD Fiat 126 belonging
to the daughter of a friend of my wife. It is currently up for
sale. And I'm sorely tempted. It is actually a Polish car which
the daughter drove back from Italy and then registered in UK: An
epic trip given the few miles I tooled around here were
       seat-of-the pants stuff. I say seat-of-the-pants; more
       knees-round-my-chin.

Been there and owned them. In 3-litre manual form one of the
finest vehicles I have ever owned, beating Beemers, Daimlers,
and pretty much everything else which has spent time in my
       stable.
There was something about the balance between power, torque,
handling, and comfort which Opel managed to get absolutely
spot-on; all wrapped up in a build quality that was second to
none. Were it not for the piss-poor parts situation, a
late-model manual 3.0E would doubtless be my daily drive of
       choice.

       Me too!
And a unchavved unmolested Evo 5 or GC8 Impreza Turbo.
They're getting surprisingly rare already. (In the same way
everyone thought Mk2 Escorts were common and then all of a
       sudden.....)

I reckon I could give a first generation SAAB 900 a home too.
Thirsty weapons in automatic format; but the ones I drove were
the proverbial stuff off the shovel.
Damned well bolted together kit and a sad loss to the buyers'
       forecourt.
