The LTWT

Okay .. Where to start....
Well, back in 2010 Mr Scruff emailed me to let me know a mate of
ours from the early ORRP days was thinking of selling his 24v
Lightweight. Kev knew I'd always had a soft spot for it as it
looked exactly like I thought a Ltwt should be.
I phoned the chap up and popped over to have a look at it. It
had been sitting in a hedge in his garden for two years but by
the time I got there he'd dragged it out, pulled most of the
branches and crud out of it and charged the batteries. It even
started and drove .....
At the time it was at least a year before I had thought of
looking for one but I decided it needed to be bought.
Roll forward a week or so and we hired a trailer and went to
pick it up with the old 110 TR (now gone). These are the pics
from the thread on the old forum.

Tilt was a bit transparent and needed replacing and the
handbrake, headlight and seats etc needed sorting ....

The old home brewed RAI almost fell apart so go taken off and
put in a bits pile. Wheels and tyres were rusted / perished so
they went and a set of wolf rims and 7.50s from the last Series
III went on.
The old tilt seemed a bit past the use by date ...

A visit to the Sodbury Sortout resulted in a new tilt from
Undercover Covers and a very good price and Exmoor Trim provided
some seats to replace the original chewed and rat infested ones.

It's also had a new pair of headlamps and windscreen washer pump
(which worked twice and then died on me), plus a few electrical
niggles sorted out. Once it was looking like it might finally
make an MOT to see what else needed doing (the original
optimistic date didn't come to fruition) the horn stopped
working and the engine wouldn't start.
A mate came round and we stripped the carb after suspecting a
lack of fuel and found the float was a bit sticky so that was
cleaned and put back together.
Then life took over earlier in 2011 and it sat on the drive for
a bit. I found a spare corner of a barn for it and then towed
it over where it refused to start again).
Although it was a bit more sheltered it was a good few miles
away and not much got done. The wolf wheels went as I wasn't
sure I liked the look and the tyres are now on 5.5 Defender
rims.
Towards the end of 2011 I found more secure storage and it is
now in a lock up in the village so a lot easier to get to for
work.
At the moment it is hidden by house stuff that was moved to the
lock up whilst I builders in but now they've gone I should clear
the lock up around it and have a resolution to get it sorted and
back on the road.

Hi Paul, how you doing mate?
Simple answer is 'one can never have too many Landrovers' LOL.
I've only got two at the moment and SWMBO has one - so just the
three at the moment 8)

Nice to see M4M's old beastie getting some pampering (so to
speak), was looking a bit forlorn abandoned in his hedge! It'll
be nice to see it up and running in all its glory again! 8)
