Steering Box Side Plate Gasket

My steering box has a leak from the side plate (the thing with
the adjuster bolt/nut in it) and has done for ages. It's not
really a problem but has just started to annoy me a bit recently
so sometime, if I can be bothered, I figured I'd change the
gasket. I wanted to check before I do that nowt is going to
spring out or drop out or anything like that when I take the
cover off - I can't recall anything happening when I took the
cover off my old steering box but it was a long time ago and the
memory ain't what it was!
Also, does anyone know the size of the nyloc nuts on the track
rod ends - kinda think 12mm rings a bell??

The relay rocker shaft (the thing you adjust from outside) and
roller could, theoretically, fall to the ground...but they're
easily spotted and really ought to draw off with the plate.
Don't worry about the bearings as they are pretty contained
within the helix race.

Have you cleaned and degreased the box properly? I thought mine
was leaking until I gave it a good cleaning then I discovered it
to be leaking from the adjusting screw, just a thought before
you dismantle.

Yeah, it's been cleaned, pretty sure it's the side cover gasket.
It's not really losing a lot, looks a lot worse than it is and
it's been like that for a few years now but for some reason I've
just decided it's pissing me off and so I decided I'd sort
it...not that it really means much...this time next year I'll
probably still be 'decided to sort it' but just not got around
to it!! ::)
