Axel U Bolts.

Having some fun with one of the U bolts on ffragles front axel.
Its the one that goes by the diff that's being the bugger.
Ffragle is sitting on 11 leaf front springs and all the bolts
I've tried are too short and don't tighten up fully.
The parts I've are 569028, 562637, 562641 and 624028. Some are
way to short and the longest of the bunch just clears the spring
plate but not enough to get the threads onto the nylock of the
nut.
The springs are in good nick and not splayed.
Are there any longer bolts??

I don't know what the individual part numbers that you quoted
are for but 11-leaf springs are meant for diesels so if you've
been buying bolts to fit a petrol then that may explain it. :-\

on the packet.I've fitted 11 leaf springs are as that's all I
could find on ebay at the time.

avoid the 'blue packet' shitpart U-bolts, when i rebuilt mine I
had a nightmare getting the longer U-bolt to fit!
The br!tpart one had a round bend in it but it definitely needs
to be more square shaped... an allmakes one fitted just right
;D
Just my experience on it :)

I got mine with my springs from my local supplier. I can call in
and try and pick one up this week to bring to the pit if needed?

So young man what length are the ones you have?? do two
measurements so we cant get it wrong... 1) measure the whole
length of the u bolt, end of thread to end of thread...... 2)
measure down one leg of the u bolt eg from the center of the
bend/flat to the bottom of the thread end... I will see what I
have knocking about in the garage too, and between us all we may
be able to sort this.....
Cheers
Chris..
