Series III 109 6 Cylinder Truck Cab

Seems that having the temerity to buy an old Land Rover without
signing an affidavit confirming the same has caused some
frothing, so here's a picture of my recently-acquired 109:

It's a 109" Utility with a truck cab, registered to its first
owner (but not built) in April 1981 - one of the last sixty or
so 6 cylinders according to the chassis number, obviously in
Bronze Green with a 3/4 tilt, a Fairey overdrive and
free-wheeling hubs. It's had two owners from new and has done
about 20,000 miles with a pretty comprehensive history
(including the factory line ticket) until it was taken off the
road, and is in fairly original and decent-enough, if not
perfect, condition (it was Ziebarted a month after it was
registered which might have helped - the sticker is in the
window, plugs are still in the doors and I have the
certificate).
I was originally thinking of looking for a 3-litre bottom end
and Weslake head, giving it 3.54 diffs and doing the interior in
the original De Luxe style using leather and tweed, but
pragmatism has taken over and I'll just tidy it up and get it
running as well as I can (all fluids/service bits, electronic
ignition, tune-up, parabolics, gas shocks etc.), stick some
soundproofing in and probably full De Luxe cab trim (it already
has a quilted headlining with speaker mounts which I think I'll
keep).

That's better. So we've got the Land Rover, how about a name -
your name, not the Land Rover's. ???

I reckon Soup du Jour's real name is Gaz Pacho. Seems to be at
it's best when left to go cold.

as well as I can' and leave the mods... or are you on a mission
here? You have read the name of the forum? ..there are other
forums that are up for turning a good old leafer into a Toyota
Landcruiser...

It's not in Leeds I'm afraid and I'm not going to get back to it
for a couple of weeks.

Not sure what you're getting at - I'm always particular about
keeping old stuff looking correct. If I had put a 3-litre with a
Weslake in, it would have looked standard to most observers, and
it's a natural period (well, actually a bit out-of-date) upgrade
for what's in there now - likewise the trim, if I had
upholstered De Luxe seats and door cards in leather it would
still look just like the original owner had ticked option E1472
or whatever. Headrests are a concession I'm willing to make.
How does fitting an '80s Prima in one fit with a quest for
originality?
