Too high?????

I got round to fitting the rear tub to the money pit today.
So to date it has galv chassis/ parabolics/new shocks.
It is a swb with 750/16 tyres.
It is sitting very high or it seems be. Does anyone have a
measure from say the floor to the top of the chassis or top of
the tub?
Or could it simply be me not being used to the way it should be?
I have never had so much new stuff on a Land Rover so could it
be that i am used to saggy springs etc?

I currently have the floor out of Winstan so can tell you
instantly by inserting a tape that the top of the chassis is
23¼ of Her Majesty's inches above ground level, running very
decent parabolocks and XZL 750/16.

Mines sitting at 30 and 3/4 inches from the floor to the top of
the rear cross member.
Working late all this week Mick, the hood is where i said.
Would have been nice to compare but with a failing empire to run
and staff that are like 2 bell ends I need to get the lazy
bastards back on track!!

The hard top one is sitting at 27 and the pick up at 29 the pick
is empty the hard top has sum tat in. It will drop when you use
it and it settles down.

Mine is a swb with 750/16 tyres and it sits at 28" to the top of
the chassis with quite a bit of stuff in the back

Not trying to be a kill joy but wouldn't it be better to measure
from the centre of the axle to the top of the wheel arch that
way you take out any tyre size or pressure difference out of the
equation and you are only measuring the set of the springs.
My current 7.50s are a good 2 inches larger than the last set
plus 5lb change in pressure makes quite a difference.
Just a thought

If Hippydave has used the RM paras that I sold with the chassis
they are three leaf HD rears. I imagine that will sit more
pertly than standard two leafers.
Did you follow preload installation procedures when fitting the
springs? ie leaving eye and shackle bolts slack, loading the
chassis, (to quote RM, 'with the weight of three men'-scientific
huh?), and tightening whilst loaded.
When the LR is fully built an easier way that has worked for me
is to leave the stuff loose, and jack each corner as high as
possible into the arch before tightening.

so basically everyone Landy is an individual, so many variables
to concider.
overall height will settle as already said

If decent parabolics are not preloaded they do not settle-the
ride height remains stupidly high.
