Gay power steering

Some will remember my post on the add on power steering by
Heystee. Dave, I believe, made up the rhyme " It's worse than
that" etc.
What with all the kerfuffle, I can't remember what was "gay"
about it.
Can someone enlighten me, please?

It's only gay until Dave needs / wants some :smilewide:
I would have it on the new(er) Dormobile, if I could find a bolt
one one like the hastee or the armoured car (shorland) version
for a reasonable amount.

Thanks AlexB. Anyone else any views on Heystee kit?
I'm going to get one eventually, unless someone can tell me:
a. It doesn't work,
b. It doesn't work as described,
c. It's fragile, and keeps breaking,
d. It's dangerous.
Met a guy the other day who said there was another version of
the ram system, but he could'nt remember it's name. Can anyone
help, with same advice as above?

Power steering is gay because it's written in the gospel
according to St. Philip the Invisible of Sterndale. OK it isn't
but it's the kind of thing he would have said. He called just
about everything gay!

A few years ago people where fitting electric power steering
from a Vauxhall Corsa 'c' in their series steering columns. They
used a £28 box off of big E to cheat the ecu component. It had
the advantage that it could be turned on a off at the flick of a
switch and if it failed at any point,unlike hydraulic, You still
had the original steering system working safely.

Its gay because limp wristed faggots can't drive without it. I
grew up with no PAS. In fact most of the cars I owned were
considered high spec if they started up when asked to.

There was a chap on here with one, but he left under a cloud. He
did however say good things about it, but I figure if you're
paying the thick end of £1K on something then you're probably
going to have a certain unwilligness to admit to any
shortcomings.

Guess your right, Dave, just not with it.
Likewise about cars I grew up with, Albert, some real heavy
bastards too. And had to recover some real pigs. (Get it?)
(Apologies to Stuey, I said no more funnies, but couldn't resist
that one.)
However, limp wristed or not I intend fitting some form of power
steering. But I'm not a real welder, for those who've heard the
gag. ( I really am going to get barred, aren't I?)
And I want something that can be removed easily, and perhaps fit
it to another Series at a later date.
Seriously though, has anyone got any experience of the Heystee
Kit?

Mmmmm! Good comment Doug. And I'll wait & see if there are any
more responses.
Again, anyone heard of the hydraulic ram system mentioned in the
first item of the post?
