Our Alpine holiday

It's been some time since we returned on 26th July, but for many
reasons I could not get as far as selecting a few photos for
this forum - there are just so many of them.
To cut things short, we spent 10 nights in the Salzkammergut
area east of Salzburg, Austria. We relied on Bernie as our means
of transport and he managed to transport me, my wife, our two
kids, our two JRT's and lots of kit. Just stuffing it into the
rear tub but still leaving some breathing space for the two
travellers in the back was quite a feat.
The holiday was amazing, the views unforgettable and
unfortunately also not possible (for me) to fully capture using
a camera. The depth of the valleys, the height of the peaks,
this was something that will never stand out from a photo as it
does when you can see it with your own eyes.
We did many longer and shorter trips, visiting Grossglockner
High Alpine Road, Postalm Road (shorter, cheaper, closer but
also very nice, with non-crowded hiking routes at the top), went
up the Schafberg in a cog wheel steam train, sailed on the
Wolfgang Lake on a steam boat (no longer steam-powered, though,
Iveco diesel engine used nowadays), did some hiking, some
child-friendly activities and generally enjoyed ourselves.
A big thank you to sonnenwald1 of this parish who organized a
leafer get-to-gether on one of the days we spent there and took
us and the other 11 leafers around the forest tracks and
mountain roads which are normally out of bounds for the public.
Some great views I would never associate with sitting behind a
steering wheel. Great route, great company and a very nice
restaurant at the end, unfortunately our younger daughter
especially did not allow us to stay longer.
