There is a bearing in the transfer box that my works bearing
supplier couldnt get for any less than £100 and thats was at
cost from Timken! I think its about £35 from bearmach. Both were
Timken and had the same part number. It doesnt always pay to get
       them from a bearing supplier.

Hmm....I just don't want to get fleeced and end up paying double
for the same bearing from the same manufacturer....Saving up for
the layshaft at the moment. Need to get a move on cos the
spare box it doing my head in with the row it makes in anything
       other than top >:(

Just find the cheapest SKF or Timken bearing available. As long
as it comes in a branded packet it should all be good.

Dom2A is right go with a branded bearing. Timken and SKF are
good. Koyo come up well as well. Most Jap bearings Ive found
are quality and value. My gearbox is loaded with SKF.

SKF would be my choice also from a mechanical engineers point of
       view :)
