No need to. There's 4x 9/16" nuts holding it on. If you undo the
big castellated one, the drum will come off but bringing the
rear drive flange with it.

I take it thats the 4off propshaft nuts. So i just need to hit
it with a big hammer to prise it off.

You don't need to remove the prop to unless you need to
completely remove the drum, inspection, cleaning and shoe swap
can be done with the prop on.

to remove only the drum from it's mounting you'll need to undo 6
whitworth sized nuts, then slide it down the propshaft out of
the way whilst you change the shoes
if you want to change the oil seal behind the drum/backplate
then you'll also need to undo the propshaft (9/16 af spanner)
AND the big castle nut (i can't remember the size socket) plus
the 4 nuts (9/16 i think) holding the backplate on and
disconnect the brake linkage
i'll be pulling the seal housing off the gearbox tomorrow after
undoing the nuts (or bolts) that hold that on so i can change
the seal without risking damage to the housing
not my favourite job but not the worst
p.s.
the castle nut is isupposed to be at least two good grunts tight

Thanks just haven't taken this off in a while and wanted to
check whether it was an oil seal or just the spray from the
dripping oil over the brake as I have an MOT this Tuesday.
