Is the steering box a damper as well?

After my massive wheel wobble i removed some shims on the
swivels and tightened the steering box......gone. So today i
added the shims again to test and losened the steering
box.........oh god its back, so i removed the shims and i still
had it, tightened the box bit and it went............. :WTF

Well there's 2 (I think) half moon friction pads in there....
Someone will be along to correct me I'm sure.

No the steering box is not a damper ............

No the relay and swivel bushes do the damping
The box is just a gear and a pair of bearings, so the only way
it daps is by being vastly to tight

Those results might point you towards the damping in the relay
being a problem, might be worth a coat of looking at?

feelinperky. I was in KO a week ago visiting a mate in Renwick (
i am in midlands) and saw your truck they are the biggest wheels
i have seen on an old landie. Are they the problem or have they
been on a while?
