I can remember crunching across ballast and looking at the cut
ends of the point rodding from the signal box there, I am not
sure when the track was lifted, but it couldn't have been long
before. We regularly went across the old wooden toll bridge!

second bridge though, crossed the toll bridge more than just a
few times ;D

The ballast trail is the old track-bed turned into a cycle path,
and the steel bridge is about a mile west from Penmaenpool,
where the railway formation crossed a small river.
It was a good little trip, although we ran out of time for
offloading. Mostly though, I am happy because my 88" made the
250 mile round trip to Thorpey's and hardly broke down at all.
This is a first in recent years!

Cracking. I've canoed the Mawddach estuary up to Penmaenpool.
Recommended.
