As I say Willy, my experience is from my dad's motor...not a man
known for vehicle husbandry.
Shockers were probably fucked. :smile1

A true gentleman would have let that pass.
Luckily, I am too much of a gentleman to pick you up on your
syntax errors.

This thread has really got me wanking thinking a lot about the
Rover P6. Again.
I think, given the choice, I would now choose either a series
one 'three thousand five' (but probably replace the BW
three-speed with the later four); or probably a series one
2000TC (and it would have to be in 'City Grey' with red leather
and carpets) on optional wires with knock-offs. Or perhaps the
period option minilites.
No that's a sports-saloon. Devilishly rakish.
I could forgive either motor the strip-speedo.

Apart from the Minilites (blergh!, IMHO), that sounds like a
very sweet spec. These low values can't last forever so there
probably won't ever be a better time to buy. I suggest you hang
out on the classicrover forum
(
HTML http://www.classicroverforum.net/)
for a while and see what
rubs off. You might find it interesting to read some of the
posts about fitting ZF HP22 auto boxes to V8s, which seem to be
gaining popularity.
BTW, one issue with the 2000TC is the current scarcity of
exhaust manifolds. Unless someone starts remanufacturing them,
it's going to become a serious problem. A 2.2SC might be a good
compromise - except they're later so built from lower quality
steel and not tax exempt, but a 2.2SC engine in an earlier car
would tick lots of boxes.

Already there Willy (albeit as a 'lurker') - hanging out, and
rubbing off; like you suggest.

The same is true with 6 cylinder Land Rovers, and I haven't let
that issue put me off.

Any chance of a pic of your chariot, Willy?

Front is my everyday 2000TC, its twin is the one I'm currently
working on (bought as a non-tax-exempt M-reg spares car that
turned out to be better than I'd thought, then reprieved by the
budget!). The blue one is another spares car, stripped to its
base unit that turned out to be extremely sound.

Yes, some but not at all bad:

Worst area is the front where wind blew in to the barn in which
it had been standing for 20 years:

Mexico Brown?
That's such a late 60s early 70s 'luxury car' colour. Rolls
Royce produced the Shadow and the MPW Coupe in a similar shade.
Love it.

If I got one of these ( used to drive Morris 1000s ) I would
have to start (again!) smoking 40 Benson and Hedges, I would
light them with a Ronson lighter :-?
One is wafted around in these cars, now where is my
fedora/trilby? :-\
