That is a weapon.
Whoever buys that, guts it and fills the engine bay of a
Lightweight with the 8 deserves to die horribly at the hands of
some brutal S&M murder squad.
Restore and hit the strip to tears of envy from Mitsu Evo
owners.

That estimate looks a bit optimistic to me especially if the
condition of that wing is a reflection of the base unit.

I'm inclined to agree Willy. You can pick up a tippity-top
(pretty much concours) V8S for around 4.5 to 5k with all the
work done, and to a very high standard to boot.
It also lacks a lot of the desireble options such as 'ET'
head-rests, boot-mounted spare, Webasto roof, etc. which all
discerning P6 owners look for. If the tub is shot, you're
looking at a lot of work. It's also a less desirable colour than
some examples.
Poor but running examples tend to sell on the bay for between
£100 and £300.
But is is an early one I suppose. Post about N reg they began to
suffer from really piss-poor build quality.

Actually I rate Cameron Green as one of the nicest colours. Also
disagree about the boot mounted spare, but that's just me
prefering a view out of the rear window.
It's a shame they are so unvalued, but it'll almost certainly
need a full brake rebuild which can swallow 400 quid on these.
Add another 250 for tyres and it's into serious money before
even looking at the bodywork.
The one I'm working on at the moment (a 4-cyl) had the cover
sills welded on to hide the rot underneath and get it through an
MOT. I'm suspicious that the primer coloured cover sill on this
V8 is the same.
But who knows, perhaps it's lovely and solid and an excellent
project. I'd certainly have a look if I was closer.

Colour...schmolour!!!
You should be shovelling it so fast in that that you would be
nought but a blur to those taking note of shade and hue.

The last V8s that I owned I converted to a 5 speed using an SD1
'box.
Easiest conversion on earth as the gear lever ends up in exactly
the same place relative to the tunel as the 4 speed box. I even
managed to use the 4 speed lever to retain the good looks of the
original fitment.
I didn't discern that it was Cameron Green Willy, so I retract
that. Having a boot-mounted spare doesn't really impact the rear
view. Such is the beauty of the design of these cars.

You'd have to modify it a lot then Drew. It's a ponderous thing
really, and wallows like a hippo if you take a bend with
enthusiasm. The current Mrs Wooden's 1800cc Euro-saloon would
piss all over the Rover in any situation. It probably even isn't
that shy off the Rover's torque figure.
But to talk about speed is to miss the point: This is a
Gentleman's carriage, not some blaggard's motor..!

Very true, Woods. However, I didn't mention bends with
intention, as my experience of the P6 is born out of memories of
my dad's 2000 (OUR 98H), which was a serious tool on the
straight and opened-up on demand. But try a bend or a roundabout
and the front n/s wheel got lost in the wing and centrifugal
force had it behaving like a jelly on a rotating play park
apparatus made by 'Wicksteed - Kettering'.
But if we're to be talking gentlemen, surely written vocabulary
is the cornerstone of being classed as such.
Oh dear...

Oh come on, they handle a lot better than that! The copper who
pulled me over at 1am last week said I was going so fast she had
a job catching up. (I refrained from replying that she might be
given a decent car to drive if she ever gets promoted beyond
WPC...)
