Electronic ignition fuel savings???

As per title, this phenomenon of Leafer ownership is claimed as
a tribunal in support of eleccy ignition.
The Stage One 'Acid Queen' is getting it as a matter of course
during the re-build and the fact that a 35D distributor was
passed on to me for the fitting of. However, with ignition
timing perhaps suggesting the points and/or condenser on the
2.25 of 'Tommy' are getting a little tired, I thought I'd spunk
a little more cash in the direction of SimonBBC, buying the
little conversion kit earlier.
Now the other bonuses of fitment are enough to attract me
anyway, so the gear was sold before I'd actually paid. But how
true is the 'better fuel consumption' claim and what percentage
improvement could I expect on the current 18.5 - 19 mpg, please?
I'm a responsible driver who rarely goes above fifty in the 88",
which has an overdrive fitted. Standard diffs.

I have been told by several people that it equates to 1-2 mpg...
I am about to fit a luminition kit to mine so also wait with
baited breath as I am getting about 16 with my heavy right
foot....

I didn't notice any improvement in mpg, but the 2.25 certainly
went a lot better and I "enjoyed" it

I use a super anorak spec app on my phone to monitor mpg on my
motors.
About 1.5 mpg better after fitting.
Goes so much better as well.

I get better starting and pick up, but not really noticed much
improvement in fuel economy running exclusively on LPG, probably
because I have a heavy right foot.

^ When you do the sort of continental size jaunts that Drew
partakes in I imagine it does make quite a difference.
I found even just fitting a solid state coil switching unit that
meant the points became a non high current signal switch gave me
about 1-2mpg lift. Better starting and tickover and torque at
very low revs it would seem.
This is a good 15 year ago when kits similar SimonBBC's were
still bloomin expensive.

Fitted one to WSL earlier this yr. Std diffs o/d turner stage 2
head. Getting around 20-23mpg on average ,as I' using WSL as
my daily drive it all helps.
