       Weather
   DIR By: Roveerman

       ---------------------------------------------------------
On leaving for work this morning a fine and gentle rain started.
I looked over at my land rover and instantly wished that I could
be in her and driving around instead of my van.
Now the this feeling was partially strong this morning and I
think it was because of the weather, I enjoy driving for driving
sake even if I have no destination in mind, but when the weather
is just a bit grotty I have a warm feeling inside when I'm out
       with my land rover.
Yes fine hot weather with the sun burning the bonnet is nice and
getting to a place or even the bottom of the road when every one
else has got stuck in three feet of snow brings out the pride in
my land rover but rain and water just has a feeling of
       completeness.
Before someone starts shouting gayness for talking about
feelings, stop and think for a moment, why do you drive a slow,
noisy, damp, cold, draughty, old land rover and what weather
makes you glad to be alive and in your land rover?
       Or am I just gay?

Weather will do as weather will do...it makes not a jot of
       difference to me.
I'm just glad to be alive...period!

Im always wishing I could drive my Landy as much as I drive my
van, regardless of the weather :)

Favourites summer, roof off as it would be for most people.
One time I drove with full tilt from brighton to Cornwall in
absolute torrential rain for the whole journey. One of my
favourite drives! Like being in a tent but with a heater and
loads of fresh air drafts blowing in.
       I know what you mean

That's it smackit, you've solved the rain thing, it's the sound
of the rain, I spent loads of holidays camping with both my
parents and with the scouts and many of them involved rain at
       some time.
Falling to sleep after a busy day with the rain pattering on the
canvas brings back many happy memories.

Listening to heavy rain on canvas tilt is great. I've recently
got into the whole bushcraft mullarkey. My 88 with its tilt,
brewing up on the seatbox with my Ghillie kettle and a pattering
of rain. Add a river teaming with chub or barbel nearby and one
       feels glad to be alive.

[ray mears' informative but, nonetheless, patronizing spiel
about stuff no rational person would want or need to do] And if
you don't like driving your Land-Rover in extreme weather, can't
feed yourself for a month using a re-fashioned Toilet Duck
bottle as a snare, don't solely wear neutral coloured clothes
with your own faeces pasted at points of perspiration-clinging
to repel predatory animals, or have a fully equipped camera
crew, with a wad of Travelodge/Little Chef vouchers in their
pockets to help you through the lean times when the forest runs
out of insects and worms to eat or materials with-which to make
a shelter, following you as you survive against the very worst
that nature can throw at you...Y'ER DEAD!!! [/ray mears'
