my mate has a ex mil 15j engine, it starts and runs but has no
revs at all i have made sure the pump is plumbed correctly and
that diesel is getting from the pump to the engine but when the
accelerator is pressed there are no revs at all, i have moved
the lever on the pump right open but still get no revs at all
just tick over. Anyone have any ideas please.

If there are two banjo bolts on it for fuel hoses, one for in,
one for out, the holes in the bolts need checking. Big hole for
in, small hole for out. I did it once on a VW LT.... took me a
while but I found it! Fuel filter clear?

I'm no expert, and I'm not sure which engine is a 15j but ; is
the lift pump working ok and does it have a on/off solenoid? -
check functionality and check air isn't being dragged in
somewhere
'Alby Ross' tocuched on a good point - FILTER!
Reminds me of the scarey time i had filter issues on the A12 at
rush hour; trying to get as far as a junction on tickover revs
in as high a gear as it would take.........angry bankers! ;D

Heh heh, bankers. Just one letter out. . . . :wanker:
Absolutely no change whatsoever? Is it possible that the lever
may not be attatched to the spindle? :smilewide:
Is this style of pump, single pump with distributor or
individual pumps? I don't often deal with small diesels but some
more thoughts do occur if none of the suggested simple fixes
work. They all take place inside the pump though :/
The governor could be stuck (I'm pretty sure it'll have one
). Depending on what kind either with the flyweights fully
out or a broken spring in the diaphragm.) If on first start the
engine had a brief blip of speed and then stuck at idle this
adds credence to this theory.
The fuel rack actuating linkage connection to the fuel rack may
be protected using a couple of springs. If they are
damaged/broken the linkage will move but the rack will not.
The fuel rack may be epically stuck, the above mentioned springs
will mean the actuator moves but the rack does not.
(Whatever system is in use, the manual part of the system is
almost never hard connected. Meaning that if whatever connection
is used breaks, nothing happens. Alternatively, if pump gets
stuck it cannot be forced to move, and nothing happens. If you
remove the throttle linkage and operate the lever on top of the
pump does it feel 'wrong' i.e. oddly loose or very stiff?)
I'm off to find out what sort of pump (actually, what sort of
engine, 2.5 NA?) that you actually have before I make any more
attempts to be helpful :rolleye0012:
