I have a capillary oil pressure gauge I intend to fill a hole in
the dash with
It would be nice if it actually worked as a gauge rather than a
draft excluder so I need a T piece to plumb it in
Merlin Motorsport have several but i dont know which one to buy
Does anyone know the thread of the oil pressue switch on a disco
200tdi?
???
Ive read on the web somewhere, M16 X 1.5 but that sounds large
to me,can anyone confirm? ???

I've got a t piece ready to fit came with a pair of TIM gauges
from I think Merlin ... putting a ruler to the oil t piece
it is 10x1 mm .... the water temp sender is 16 x1.5. I
rang Merlin before ordering they were very helpful, but don't
do the water temp fitting.

Its definately M10x1 as I put an oil pressure switch from a VW
on my 300 when the original broke. The spin on oil filter
housing on my 2.25 diesel which came off a 2.5 petrol is also
M10 so maybe all 2.5's are?
The VW link is useful as some VAG cars have VDO oil pressure
sender/switch combined units on them which are worth over £50
new but cheep from the scrappy - you can use them with a VDO
electric gauge (if your lucky the car might have one of them
too) thus its a cheep way of building an electric system (less
prone to bursting a hose and filling the dash with oil). The
only problem with VW senders is they often triger at about
0.5bar, which is too low for your main warning but would be okay
suplimenting a gauge. VWs actully have 2 oil pressure switches
but the higher one works backwards (closes with pressure) so
itsn't so useful. I think the LR switch works at about
1...1.4bar and its what I refitted to mine once I'd found a good
second hand genuine one (am much better bet than wasting money
on a useless new pattern one).
