Different 7.50 tyres have different height. My Michelin are
just over 31". Some 7.50tyres can be under 30"

The old imerial tyres are quite narrow, you won't find an
equivelent thats the same width, (if you did it would be called
a 190/100R16).
235/85's are slightly wider than a 9.00 but they are practically
the same size as a 7.50, usally 1 or 2% bigger. They should be
on a 6in+ rim though mine are on 5.5s, I justify it as okay
because I don't take them anywhere near their load or speed
rating as its on an 88 so I don't think the pinch is significant
and they aren't waring funny, if it was a well loaded 109 I
would reconsider.

My brother has just brought himself a set of Insa 'traction
tracs', nominally 235/75 r16. In practice they are only 195mm
wide*, but they have the sidewall height appropriate to their
designation, making then pretty well the size of the 7.50's
(Deestone Extra Traction) that I run.
Anybody who actually wanted the width might be disappointed but
I'm keeping them in mind as replacements. :)
*across tread blocks, about 21mm0 at widest point
