Hand Throttle Finish?

Starting to restore the hand throttle from a 1966 LHD SWB. How
was this finished? I have seen too many finishes from paint to
galvanized on the interwebs. No useful inforamtion from
searches...
Across the pond the consensus appears to be electroplated zinc?

The one on my 67 looks like it was galvanized before a previous
owner painted it black, badly :banghead
However, I think only the front curved plate was galvanised - I
can't see any signs of zinc on the rest of the assembly - that
looks like it was originally painted.

When I bought my one from blanchards NoS the instruction said to
paint the curved front part body colour as it was supplied
galvanised. I never bothered.
Intrestingly the bulkhead plate it connects to was supplied in
red?

Cool thanks. I guess that would explain why mine is painted
limestone. Looks like galv is the way to go.

the main body on mine was black and one at work on a one owner
from new is black body and green front
