Rear Tub Advice

Hi all,
I am nearing the completion of my 1976 88" Petrol
rebuild/restoration with only the remainder of the body work to
restore and paint.
I have started with the rear tub and have found some issues that
I want to put right and need some advice with, so here goes -
1, The floor needs replacing, if I drill out the spot welds is
it ok to fit the new floor with rivets as I do not have access
to a spot welder.
2, I have seen a replacement floor on ebay for £170 is this a
good price and any advice on where I can get one from?
3, The 2 panels at the back either side of the rear door are in
poor shape are these available and how hard a job is it to
replace them (spot welding would be a problem again).
4, Should I buy the correct pop rivets to replace drilled out
ones, if so where are they available?
As you probably guess from this post I am confident doing the
mechanical restoration but the body work is a bit more of a
learning curve.
Any advice would be gratefully received!

Usually a post in the welcome section in nice before you start
asking questions...
Anyhow
Ive no idea if £170 is a good price for a sheet of ally, but a
complete tub would be cheaper
Pop rivits would be fine to use
Stick up some pics in the members motors section.

Chequeer plate can be used to replace the rear floor, but make
sure you lay it face down and dont tell anyone

Lurch,
Thanks for advice and I have posted in the welcome section when
I joined complete with pictures of my 88" so far. Sorry if I am
not at the stage of asking questions yet!

HI
Short answer, £170 for a sheet of aly for this dimension as a
plain sheet is way overpriced... theres a few metal suppliers on
Ebay ask them to cut it to size, I use ninja201022 all the time.
His name is mick and is a decent chap... if your near northants
good luck.

Vagaries of the way the post counting thang works dude ...posts
made in certain sections don't count (Stops Hippy Dave racking
up millions of posts in the welcome section lol .)

Looking very nice, :thumbs:. I would not pay £170 for a rear
floor myself would probably buy a sheet of ally and make it
myself or buy a very good rear tub for much less, where you
located? The 1mm cutting discs are good for cutting ally.
You can get solid type countersunk rivets which I have seen used
on the floor, by the time you paint it you won't see them they
just look like spot welds.
If the floor needs doing what are the supports like underneath?
If the rear panels need work also you need to ask yourself if it
is worth the effort do you really want to retain the original
tub? Something only you can answer.

I have looked at replacing the tub. But the ones I have looked
at are about the same condition as mine. The floor I am looking
at on ebay is from a ebay shop called bits4landys and comes
complete with the top hat sections that run long ways along the
bottom.
My tub is basically sound but when I removed the 3 steel rails
that run cross ways I found that the ali top hat rails under
them had completely turned to dust, eletrolitic crossion at
work!
The only other issue with it is some corrosion on the two rear
panels where the tub bolts to the chassis, this is not too bad
just crumbled along the lower edge. I have found a repair panel
from the same ebay shop for these but this is only the lower
section which would mean a joint across the panel.
I would attach a link to the panels on ebay if my computer
skills allowed which unfortanatly they dont.
I have decided on repairing the tub I have to the best standard
I can manage.
Will attach some pictures of corrosion and repairs as I go
along.
