series three gauges - 10 or 12 volt?

A quick one
Does the series three tank sender and gauge need a voltage
dropper to make them work (like the 2a) or are they 12v anyway?

It does, Alex...part number 148876.
Both the temp gauge and fuel gauge both run through it, with the
part itself being fixed to the back of the speedometer.

The very last of them don't have the voltage wotsit fitted -
though I'm not sure if it's a military spec thing or if it was
the same on civvy trucks? On the (military?)wiring diagram I
have somewhere it shows 12v GS without fog guard (fog lights for
the dim types!) with the gauges running through a voltage
stabiliser, the diagram for 12v GS with fog guard has them with
no voltage stabiliser.
My 1983 Lightweight has fog lights and it has no voltage
stabiliser.
As I said earlier I'm not sure if this is a military only thing
or if it applied to civvy trucks too, I've not got a wiring
diagram to hand for a late civvy SIII to look at.

I think it's just military. The gauge cluster I have in the 88
with oil temp, water temp and fuel being military doesn't need a
dropper (when I connected it as per the civvy gauge it replaced
through the reg the needles pulsed weirdly) but I've not seen a
civvy cluster fitted without the reg.
