Thank you. A lot of time was spent just correcting previous cock
ups :(. One previous owner had welded on a new rear cross-member
(badly) without pulling out the wiring loom :banghead and I
really want to find the person who put 'defender' decals on
       :executioner:
Buying a S3 with 12 previous owners, ten of them in quick
succession, was not a sensible thing to do. Alas, I suffer from
machine empathy and a rescue was required. The state of most of
Brown reflected this history, small mods and quick fixes lashed
in all over the place. I remade large parts of the wiring loom
and couldn't resist keeping a tally of cables which had no
purpose, it came to over 20m worth :D
Mind you, when I started looking I had a coil sprung pickup in
mind :gay: Brown saved me too. . . . . :giddy:
All this work was done a couple of years ago so it ain't quite
so pretty no more :/. There is lots still to do, some new stuff
that needs doing and things like the chassis waxoiling to re-do.

It has been a good land rovering week though :smilewide:
Monday: 180 mile round trip to Eastbourne to pick up an engine
crane off fleabay, followed by the recovery of my mates
       extremely deceased Focus.
Tuesday: Crawled all over by Beavers! (small scouts in this
case. . . ) who came to visit the lifeboat station and thought
       Brown was an exhibit.
Wednesday: At the beam engine, moving heavy stuff then
transporting 7 folk to the pub and back.
Thursday: Used as transport by owner of aforementioned Focus. .
       . .
Friday: Drove home (110miles in 2 hours and 20 minutes at 23mpg
:) ), in theory to finally take the engine out to replace leaky
rear oil seals and clutch etc. In practice to rescue my brothers
       :gay: 90.
Saturday: Stood quietly on driveway, looking smug whilst coiler
       underwent essential repairs. :rolleye0012:
Sunday: RTV, didn't win (ok, came last) but it was a laff :D
Today: Quick jetwash and brake adjustment, then drive back to
Portsmouth, still without much needed seal replacement but at
least carrying small things like new window sliders for
       replacement down there.
