Im in the market for a new drivers side seat. Would the the
Exmoor deluxe high back seat be a good choice or should I stick
with the std seat. Was wondering if any of the members have the
high back seat and what they think of it. Donk

I've got Exmoor high back seats in my S3. They're pretty old
(third vehicle I think) and the fabric is worn through so I've
bunged a couple of cheap waterproof seat covers over them.
I think they're a big improvement on the standard seats,
especially on long journeys, and do at least give you some neck
protection in case of a rear end shunt.
I notice Exmoor call them "extreme" now. Hmmm, wonder which
market they're going for...
Not sure they've thought through the rear pocket idea, as it'll
be jammed up against the bulkhead.

I'd speak to Exmoor for an honest appraisal regarding how they
sit in a SWB truck-cab, Donk.
There is considerably less room due to the seat bulkhead being
further forward and, in conjunction with the cab rear, you may
find the high-back slope fouled and/or progressively damaged.

Not a direct comparison I know but I've pulled the Gaybender
seats out of my 88 and replaced them with ex-military stock bog
standard cushions. Not high back, not deluxe, not anything other
than the most basic of the basic. I'm certainly not tall (5'
10") and found it a struggle on them, my mate who was 6' 4"
couldn't drive the thing. In a 109 with the extra space I'm sure
they would have been better.

I have the high back 'deluxe's in my 88 and I don't think they
are much of an improvement on a standard or deluxe, standard
height seat back.
The biggest issue I have is when I have NIAB in full tilt mode
as I tend to attach the seat belt returns to the top of the mid
bulk head and find the belt wants to slip down the side of the
seat back and off my shoulder all the time, works fine with the
hard top and the proper corner bracketry though.
They would clearly be off benefit in a rear end shunt - as said.
Being 6' 4'', I have pretty worn out standard seat bases soI
don't have to 'stoop' to see out of the front, I once tried a
deluxe seat base and quickly went back to my soft as shit bases.
What I really need is some firm but thin seat bases - possibly
some memory foam type stuff as I 'd rather have a sore arse than
sore back :rolleye0012: :smilewide:

I have them in a 109 soft top, and for a 5'9"
nottoofataroundthemiddle type I find them just right. However in
a truck cab (be it of the 88 or indeed the 109 variety) they
will sit very upright.

Thanks for the advice, I think the normal low back deluxe SIII
ones will be the shot. Im on 6ft. Might do a recover job on the
old ones, i notice the vinyl is kept in by those clips of which
there are few missing. Can you buy those clips anywhere? Donk
