       Brake flexis for a 6 pot 2a

struggling to work out what i need to order ???
For 1971 2a 6 pot stw, it has a S3 rears salisbury axle due to
be fitted, and the standard 2a wider 6 pot brakes up front.
Anybody point me in the direction of which flexi brake pipes to
order or how to work out what i need, i have so many different
part codes now i am going mad.
       1. Did the Series 3 stuff use 3/8UNF threads or did they swap to
       10mm?
       2. Are 6 pot front flexis a different length than normal?
       I think i need RTC3353 rear and 2 x RTC3386 front?
       Thanks Paul.

Your rear flex-hose is fine, assuming the axle is pre July 1980.
After this date, it all became metric.
However, if you find the axle is metric, changing the T-piece,
coppers and cylinders will put it right and is cheaper than
       having a mixed system.
You'll probably find you need the hoses which have the
supersession number of RTC5903 for the front, as these are what
were on the larger drummed 6-pots and, later, Stage One.

Thanks Drew that is really useful, i will check the thread on
the T piece on the rear axle, its getting new pipes and
cylinders so will try keep it all 3/8 unf.
I will also check out the part number for the v8 ones
Gets really tricky when you check what you think is the correct
part number and it has been supersceeded twice, and then i think
some of the parts supliers have incorrect and misleading
       descriptions.

The part number I've given you covers the V8 models, plus a few
other models with the larger brakes.
If John 'We Don't Have It In Stock But Will Take Your Order All
The Same' Craddock's website is good for one thing, it's
directing you correctly away from supersceded numbersto what is
used now, often with grouping of multiple models.

I am still struggling with the front flexis *help* i have looked
at RTC5903 however i think it may be for Series 3 only because
it "terminates" on a bracket on the back (top) of the swivel
housing then from there it has a short solid J shaped section of
brake pipe between the flexi and the cylinder.
On my 2a 6 pot the flexi runs direct to the cylinder and there
are no brackets on the back of the swivel housing, hence I think
it needs to be slightly longer.
I think these might be what i need?

I'm pretty sure on Patrick's (6 pot, 11x3" TLS) the flexi goes
to a bracket, then a short pipe to the cylinder.
I'm sure I would have remembered if the flext screwed directly
into the cylinder - it's not here at the moment but I can check
later if you don't get any other suggestions.
       Cheers,
       Robin.

Just found some pics I took when I modified them to feed to the
bottom cylinder with bleed nipple in the top so they bleed
       properly!
Flexi & bracket are original, I just made up a new pipe to go
from the flexi to the bottom cylinder instead of the top.

Robin Thanks for the photo that really helps, is that on an S2a
       or S3? .
I think a PO has made a rite mess of the plumbing on mine, the
short bit of pipe shown on yours did not exist neither did the
       mounting brackets for the flexi?
At least now i have the correct route to work with  i
will follow your lead and route the pipework to the bottom
cylinder first and put the bleed nipple at the top as this seems
like common sense to me, just need to scource the flexi mounts

       Ah, sorry - Patrick's is a 3 :haha:
I've just checked the parts catalogue and found that you are
       right - S2/2A 6 pot had a flexi, part number 268341, screwing
straight into the top cylinder with a copper washer (part number
       233220).
There doesn't appear to be any bracketry, the flexi just screws
on to the end of the rigid pipe.
The normal route would be feeding the top cylinder, pipe down to
bottom cylinder and bleed nipple in the bottom. That's the same
       on 2, 2A & 3.
As you say, it does seem strange to have the bleed nipple in the
bottom, but that's how LR did them :-?
I didn't see why, so modified them on Patrick's and on mine and
bleeding seems to be a lot easier.
       Hope that helps,
       Robin.

Yes it is much clearer now, the replacement for the 2a pipe
268341 (the part number i started with) is RTC3386.
However I think i will plumb as you have shown from a bleeding
point of view it is more logical as any trapped bubbles work
their way to the bleed nipple and it just looks like a beter
       engineered solution.
Thanks for all the help
