I do the blowtorch method, its very effective! Trick is not to
go too mad or too localised and just warm the shoe up in a well
ventilated area, you'll soon see it drying out as the oil
bubbles out and smokes off. Take specal care on bonded friction
material too, rivited is not such a problem (remember they are
designed to get pritty hot in use
Given the price of mintex brake shoes (I don't buy the cheeper
ones, they aren't worth it) I don't try too hard to restore the
footbrakes if they get badly contaminated but I always do it to
the handbrake, thats partly because S1 handbrake shoes are
rivited and last time I changed them they were only avalable on
exchange - unless you fuckup the ajustment or drive with it on
they should never ware out anyway (and you can't drive off with
them on if they are working properly, the engine will stall)
