LPG intake stepper motor speed (VIP 100 system)

Got a important date for the racer first thing saturday and low
and behold...problems.
IF you can get it to start and splutter as soon as your driving
all is well except but kept going either too rick or too lean
whereas I used to have it spot on.
Much messing about I realised I was been given the run around.
Ended up running the engine with the stepper motor unit out and
while it does move it takes a very long time ie minutes to open
and close.
Rigged up with VIP100 system on but with engine off and with the
stepper motor on the wing top you could hear it chuntering.
"Knock knock knock" every second or so and barely moving the
stepper motor is waaay to hot to touch.
Has anyone had experience on watching these stepper motors in
action? I thought they responded pretty dam quick!
Thinking about symptoms if you were driving normally it would
over time be fine but as soon as you pulled up to a junction it
would be spluttering like crap and not run at low revs at all
well. Leave it long enough though and low and behold it'll run
fine at low revs then miss and pop under load. This to me sounds
like the stepper motor is moving just in geological time not
pronto like it should.
Either way it's led me a merry little chase and one is not
impressed!
Guess it's a call to Tinley Tech in the morning and hope to god
I can get one sent by early Saturday Morning which will be
interesting as Tinley no longer seem to stop VIP100's so I hope
there's another unit that's compatible.
Fucking thing is less than 12 months old less than 1000 miles
I'd guess as well!
Any advice would be greatly received.

Fitted one a while ago to a V8, have a fairly strong memory of
it going full stroke in about 2 seconds without any thumping.
Got one to fit to my own 88 once it's back together again
somewhere in the storage unit. You'd be welcome to a borrow but
I'll not be anywhere near it in time for the weekend.
Can you get away with just a preset "powervalve" or whatever
they call them?

Cheers for that! 2 seconds sounds about right! I'll be expecting
Tinley to send one next day somehow given the age of it. Or lack
of.
