Wireing Spotlamps Question.

Now remember I'm a complete numpty when it comes to
electrickery.
I want to get the two lamps on the front of Daisy working again
via a simple dash mounted switch. If I run a cable from the live
side of the fuze box direct to the switch and from the switch to
one lamp and then to the next and then run another cable from
lamp to lamp then earth, would that work?

I would not wire anything like that without a relay in circuit.

It'll work but it'd be better to use a relay. Small value fuse
in the supply to the switch bigger one for the relay.
If the headlights are a bit in the dim side measure the volts
actually at the bulbs. If the measured voltage at the bulb is
below 12v, the light output halves something like 50% per volt.
Easiest fix is to mount a pair of relays one each for high and
low beam with a nice fused feed giving full battery volts. You
could then add the switch between high beam and the aux light
relay.
Seem to remember legally your meant to wire aux lights via the
high beam feed unless the lights are fogs when they must be
switched with low beam.

its worth tacking your switch feed from a ignition feed this
will mean you cant leave them on with the ignition turned off

Rory,
You were describing wiring the lights in series, this is only
required if you are on a 24v vehicle and using two 12v lights.
The spot lights if 12v on a 12v vehicle need to be wire in
parallel. Ie both lamps need one connection to earth (-ve) and
one connection to the live (+ve) feed. Normally as others have
said the feed should come from a relay. Then you can switch the
relay with your main beam switch if you want or as another
suggested a switch from an ignition feed.

Thank you for the replies, most helpful.
I will not be wiring them up to come on and off with the main
lights as the dynamo does not produce enough electrickery to
allow that! All I want them to do is light up sometimes so I can
say that they work.

Remember that by doing that it is technically illegal, they
should be wired to work through the dip switch and whilst you'll
probably never have a problem it's sods law that one day you'll
probably end up running into a pedantic pig who can't wait to
get his little notebook out...

The light output by all four lights on together should match the
light output of a tallow candle in a tin can!

Sounds like what mine was like then! I stuck a halogen set up in
it a few years ago, definitely worth it!
