daft question

but what oil do i use for my diff gearbox and transfer box and
engine
details are
2.5 td with a lt77 from a 1990 90
the diffs are 46 teeth / Rover 3.54
hears some photos of it

don't put ep90 in the lt77 it knackers the pump - LR originally
specified ATF and now I think some sort of MTF.

douse the tx box have its own oil or share the box oil , also
any idea how much of each oil i need , ta

Transfer box and gear box shouldn't share their oils.
main gearbox ATF/MTF 2.2 litres
transfer box EP90 or 85W/90 gear oil 2.8 litres
axles same oil as transfer box but 1.70 litres
steering swivels same oil as axles & transfer box but 0.35 litre
each side
As the boxes are the defender type you don't have to worry about
the GL4/5 spec and dissolving syncros

cool how do i fill the oil on the swivels , also where do i find
the drain and fill on the tx and gear box , the diff's are empty
as i have just changed them

There's a filler plug on the back of the swivel housing undo &
fill until it starts running back out.
There are 2 drain plugs on the LT77 on on the bottom of the box
in the middle under 5th gear, the filter should be cleaned out
or just replaced if bad, the second is on the transfer box side
of the box.
