Another successful mail order

Yesterday I ordered another £130 of bits for my Series 1. All
ordered over the phone from Dunsfold Land Rovers (DLR).
As usual, got to speak with an adonoidal chap on the other end
of the phone who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He put me
on hold twice whilst he went off to double check that they
really didn't have any left of some obscure part that wasn't on
the stock computer - and found they did! That's the exact
opposite to *addocks who tell you they have the part in stock
when they don't!
They wrapped all the bits up and posted them to my work for me.
Delivered safely today.
Everything is exactly spot on, and not a single blue box to be
seen.
Perfect.
Why does anyone except the most impoverished bother with the
crap and incorrect parts that *addocks and their ilk seem to
dispatch willy nilly?
No, I'm not sponsored by DLR or employed by them. The only
conceivable benefit I get from telling you all how good my
experience with DLR is, is that they might continue to exist and
thereby sell me more parts and run entertaining open days.

Ive had a similar experience with DLR, nothing was too much
trouble and all was genuine parts at not silly prices, one item
was glass, so we had to go pick it up, if youve never been, its
like stepping back 50 years in the parts shop.......highly
reccommended.

Agreed, I find DLR very helpful when I use them and they do only
seem to stock decent stuff.

On Huffo's recommendation I've just ordered a couple of bits for
my 109 from Dunsfold. Didn't catch the chaps name but thoroughly
helpful. Especially after speaking to my local LR parts place,
getting the monkey and being told the part I wanted didn't
exist! So watch this space!

Its probably been either Nick or Nick.... rofl (they have two
at DLR)
I use them since about 20 years now, and was never let down.
Phil and his people are real enthusiasts and they understand how
to deal with other enthusiasts, because they actually drive and
work with old Landrovers, while a lot of the other sellers
personnel probably drive europboxes or even worse....

As said above; I buy from them with great confidence and its
even more pleasure if you have a nice chat with the person on
the other end of the line.
I pretty much like the "check availability" function of their
website, but then its worth having to call or mail to really
order. This peronal contact must be worth something to those
really interested in sustainability and good service.
Its even cheaper in the long run if you ask me, as you avoid
getting shitty parts being sent and have to sent back and get a
proper in the second attempt.
DLRcan't be rated high enough!

I rang them inquiring about a front propshaft once. Chap said
they didn't have one in stock but did have a heavy duty military
spec one in for not a lot more. I asked about grease nipples and
he said they didn't come with any on the fronts but if I wanted
too he would fit a couple for me for free! Item was quickly
delivered with free grease nipples and the prop was a quality
item. Proper heavy duty!

DLR may not be the cheapest but I've never been disappointed
with any of the parts they've sent me. And unlike any of the
other suppliers I get to talk to someone who knows more about
Land Rovers than me. I call into Bearmach for parts if I'm
desperate and they haven't got a clue, you can tell they're just
doing a job and haven't got any interest in what they're
selling. I learnt a lesson when I got some Bearmach brake drums.
They were more oval than the old ones! Got my money back and
splashed out on some proper jobs like I should have in the first
place.

Update. Ordered a couple of bits from DLR on Saturday lunchtime.
Here today. Right bits and great service. Won't be using anyone
else!!! :thumbs:
