New firepit :)

Especially for Pete (nitemare) here are a couple of pics of my
new firepit on its first outing (this weekend at the Ripley
Castle car show) :smilewide:

We had this and a traditional firepit next to each other and
mine seemed to give off a lot more heat :thumbs:
When it gets nice and hot the top radiates the heat, so we can
still see fire (a basic necessity!) and get more heat than if it
was just an open firepit.
Once I find some thick plate I'll cut into the top and make a
hotplate.

Looking good. Glad to see a chimney, always thought the open
fire was an accident waiting to happen when the canvas covers
were out :-)
Will you be cooking on it?

Yep, once I acquire some decent thickness steel plate I'll cut a
section out of the top and weld it in as a hotplate :thumbs:

We've used an open firepit for a couple of years, but when it's
windy the smoke just blows around, getting in everyone's eyes
:smiley-furious:
The top and chimney should reduce that, and the top is height
adjustable so if it's really windy it can be closed completely
or with just an inch gap, right up to about 6" gap or taken off
completely for the primeval fire fix :smilewide:
Oh, and it all comes apart so the legs, chimney etc. all fit
inside.
Once it's packed up I strap it to the front of the Carawagon on
a couple of steel bar 'cradles' I've bolted to the bumper (pics
to follow) :thumbs:

that's looking good Robin :thumbs: i've had a similar idea
rattling about but using a 45 gallon drum vertically with the
centre cut out to allow filling/flames to be seen and also
having a flat top already would simplify the balancing of
kettles/frying pans
