       CYD is dead, help needed

First test drive today after finally finishing the back axle and
       other jobs
Took him for a couple of blasts up and down the road,on the 2nd
return run he suddenly lost all power, went into idle for a few
seconds and then stopped,I freewheeled down the hill and into
the track by my house where some fucking redsocks where standing
looking blank and preventing me from getting to the drive
       :wanker:
Anyhow, the ign light comes on but there is not even a click
       from the starter....
       Any ideas?

       Hi
Have you checked all leads connections etc Just a thoughtI once
lost power after going over a speed bump and it was lead from
       coil to distributor

Bad earth ...?? Try a jump lead from Neg terminal direct to
       engine block

Sounds like a fuel problem to me.

No click from starter would imply an electrical issue.
Engine returning to idle & cutting out sounds like a fuel issue.
However, the fuel pump is electric I think?

Have you got +12V to your ignition switch? Are you getting
voltage to the solenoid and fuel pump?

       14v at battery
9.2 v across starter solenoid with ign off

Mine stopped like that once on the way home in the dark. Total
power failure. the power wire to the solenoid had dropped of due
to a weak connector. It looked like it was still on. Head torch
out and a couple of minutes later I was good to go. It does
sound like electrical rather than anything else!

Pete, trouble is a voltmeter only draws a very small current so
the 9volts with a voltmeter suggests to me you have a serious
high resistance connection somewhere between the battery and the
rest of the circuits. Could be a cable broken internally and not
able to carry enough current - hence better to check
connectivity with a bulb than a meter - if you get my drift?
Guess you need to go around waggling some connectors. I suppose
the reason he died is because the high resistance has caused the
       fuel solenoid to shut.
       Hope that helps a bit!!
       cheers
       Dave
