Where does the rusty bush stop and the chassis start?

Hi,
I have put off for weeks trying to get thefront bushes out of
the chassis. One side looks as though it will just need brute
force as the outer metal cylinder seems to be in 2 parts so I
will be able to hammer those out.
The other side is a different matter. I can't even see where the
bush outer stops and the chassis starts - the rusty brown circle
(didn't want to use the phrase rusty ring) looks too thick to be
the outer cylinder of the old bush- see pics

Any ideas? I will be fitting poly bushes so is there a way to
grind the metal back until the hole is big enough for the bush
ends?

Weirdly enough I reckon picture number three,although focusing
on the far chassis rail, gives the best indication. Gives an
almost complete circle within a circle except in the top left
where it's worn.
Hacksaws and chisels are your friends.

Think you might be right about pic 3.
There is a gap in the market for a set of poly bushes that are
smaller to fit inside stuck in original style bushes.
Just slightly smaller in circumference and none of this having
to bang the old one out. Quick clean and Bob's your uncle.
Instead I have a few hours of hammering, swearing and annoying
the neighbours on a bank holiday monday!

Did I mention there's £50 for anyone wanting to come to
Brighouse and show me how good they are by removing this!! I
have seen on other forums people who can do them in 15 mins so
that could be a nice hourly rate for someone! A cup of tea will
be included and sugar to literally sweeten the deal!
Will some rid me of this troublesome bush?!

easy to remove just hacksaw it then a few taps with a
hammer............did one yesterday! :popcorn:

I used an SDS drill on mine, took about 10 seconds >Htlr<
(after spending a day chipping at it with a hammer & chisel &
hacksaw)

i was limited to 2 bits ( neighbour took pity on me or got fedup
of my tapping with a hammer ) a pointy one & a chisel shaped
one, the chisel shaped one didnt fit down the hole so i started
with the pointy one & that tore into the gap between the bush &
chassis tube, bending the already cut bush tube inwards
once i got an "edge" to press against it just peeled off &
rolled up nicely with pressure from the drill ( set to hammer
only not rotate )
by pointy bit i mean something like this

Possibly need a recoprocating 18V cordless saw. Get them at
those big shed hardware stores. We have ones here branded Ozito
and are cheap and surprisingly good for the price. Would make
easy work of it.
