2.25D Injector Pump Leak

Now I've got my motor running reliably without cutting out
anymore, I have noticed the leak on the injector pump is getting
a tad worse. There is a constant drip coming from the bottom of
the governor side housing area, and I noticed last night it is
also seeping out of the side of the housing (I think both leaks
are seperate, not the same leak manifesting in two areas)
I'd rather not remove the whole pump if I can help it - so I'm
thinking of removing the side cap in situ to have a go at
sealing it. Now, having never taken one off before. If I remove
the two dome headed screws, and remove the stop lever and
throttle lever, will this cap just come away? When I remove it
will I be hit in the eye by a spring or other small part as it
disappears into the ether, never to be found again or is it safe
to remove? What is involved?

I can't watch it here (work PC) to see if this is the right
pump. I just Googled :)

Thanks Andy - same problem here I'm currently at work, I'll take
a look when I get home. You might ask why I don't google myself,
and I could but I trust the technical know how found here (and
the rivet counters club forum) far more!

Trying to do any pump repair on the vehicle seems like to much
of a faf to me. They are easy to remove and re fit just make a
good scribe line so that you can put it back on in the same
place.

Took it off in the end, side cover came off easy enough but
there was no way I could have got it back on. Refitting the
spring back in the holes it came out of is near impossible, talk
about fiddly. I discovered a badly made and broken gasket, and
also one of the special fixings has stripped its threads. Then
the damn thing snapped (with very little force so it must have
been buggered) and left me wondering what the hell I was going
to do.
In the end I used a cut down M6 setscrew to replace the broken
fixing, which went into the stripped hole no problem. I fixed it
with liquid metal, andonce cured reassembled the pump. Refitted
it all and bled it back up -so far no leaks. This was all at
1.00am this morning so couldn't really try it out. Just been out
to give it a go and the leak is still there, but not as bad as
before. I'll try to eliminate it later on with some gentle
tightening of the nuts but daredn't go too far.

Still bloody leaking though. Can't get it to seal at all. I'll
give it one more go before I set fire to the fucker.

Quattro, is there any where you can send it to be reconditioned?
With the CAV pumps for tractors, it's always been considered
best to send them away to be sorted & get a reconditioned one as
it's not easy to get them both back together properly &
working...

I wanted my Injector pump overhauling and decided to get it done
at at CAV specialist. Wasn't cheap but talking to a bloke there
he said its not really a DIY job if your not sure what your
doing. Very easy to mess them up altogether.
