Cibie halogen head light conversions for series 3.

The general view seems to be that these are the best available.
Been looking at suppliers and the price seems to be £35 +Bulb
+p&p each, about £85 a pair!
There should be room to discount them, has anyone found a
discount seller for these please?

They might be expensive, but they're worth it. I got fed up of
Wipac and Ring crap and fitted a pair. They are the Dog's! ;D

I fitted a set of LHD Autopal glass crystal type lights to the
ambulance in the states, I've got Wipac crystals on both the 88
and 109 here and they are very good...until you touch the lens.
It's plastic and scratches really easily. Autopal lights are
Cheap too.

cibie all the way. think mine cost about 65 for the pair, but
that was about 5 or 6 years ago.

Those Autopal ones are the same as the Ring branded ones sold by
Paddocks. Whilst they might look OK on a Series 3 (I have never
tried) but on a series 2 they look absolutely wank of the
highest order. The step for the retaining ring that holds in
the light is aprox 1/2" lower than the lens, so it makes the
headlights look like they are going to pop out at anytime.
The Wipac crystal clear ones I've fitted to the lightweight have
a much nicer profile, however they look far too modern for the
series 2!

Hi Stuey, they look fine on a S3 (unless one is anally retentive
about having clear glass instead of ribbed)

I have a pair of wipacs that I adjusted and have some super
bright xenons in them I know not the thing for a series but here
there is no street lighting there is no road markings (on any
road in the mountains) sheer drops at the side of the road,
blind bends and wildlife either side of the road that likes to
play chicken while getting from one side of the forest to the
other, on top of that I got a set of ciebie spots as well and
they light up bloody good great for the forest and road

It's all well and good fitting higher power bulbs etc. but
remember the wiring needs to be tip-top, switches in good order,
and relays will also need to be there for the load. Otherwise
carry a fire extinguisher and an AA card.
