That size will be correct, I knew it was a corse thread.
I had the same problem with the spigot bush and had one machined
from scratch.
Are you making the inner footwell removable for easy access to
the rearmost plugs and fanimold bolts? I couldn't be arsed but
yours would be easy with that straight cut.

There's a good idea. I was thinking of rivetting which is a
fairly removable option. Could just bolt a plate on or
something?

Just about got it in to discover the starter area stops the
clutch slave bracket bolting up! Engine out again and can't get
the bracket off because some cunt has welded it!
If anyone else is feeling stupid enough to do a conversion, get
help with it. I'm about to take the piece of shit down the tip

the pain. :smilewide:

My alternator is on the passenger side, so only a little
grinding needed on the battery tray (very tight getting it in).
Air filter tray removed

After thinking I was ready to bolt up, I discovered that the
molding around the starter motor fouled the clutch slave
bracket. Here's what it looks like after a very angry person
attacked it with an angle grinder

Tip tp anyone else doing it - locate the three studs for the
slave bracket through the bellhousing before mating engine.
Makes life much easier! How you get to the top one I will never.
Also the top studs! They're completely hidden. Completely! If
anyone has managed to reach them they deserve a medal :stars
This pic shows how hidden they are...

Also, the chassis seems to be very twisted. I've had to put a
scissor jack between the handbrake drum and the chassis rail to
twist the gearbox to get it straight with engine, or the engine
would sit through the passenger side wing.
Here's a gearbox mount

Made mating the engine to the box an absolute nightmare! Also,
the rubber engine mounts, attached to the new conversion bracket
I bought will not line up with the chassis mounts. Massive
jiggery pokery needed. Any help gratefully received as it's
taken me 2 and half weeks to get this far.

You have taken out the wedge under the drivers side engine
mount........?

As above, one other trick is to put the engine in with no mount
brackets, you can then drop it down to allow easier access to
the bell housing studs.
I seem to recall mine was a bastard to get in abs lined up,
worth it though

I have taken the wedge out yeh. Will try again tomorrow and see
if it will lower enough with no rubbers.
The more worrying thing is that when the drivers side mount pin
touches the chassis mount (as it doesn't go through the hole)
the passenger side is still floating a good inch or so above the
chassis mount, supported by the gearbox, even with the crane
completely slack.
Have tomorrow off work so will have a good look and report back

Can anyone explain to me the "spigot adapter"?!
Also, george, what exhaust are you using?

The V8s were mated to gearboxes with much larger input shafts -
hence you need a different spigot bush for the Series box.
If you use a Range Rover flywheel remember to take the dowels
out which hold the RR clutch. Someone who lives not a million
miles from here had his V8 in and out twice when it wouldn't
turn over, before discovering the dowels were hitting the
bellhousing...
