I'm going to watch this thread with interest. Are you going to
strip the top-end off the engine? The Rover V8 is possibly the
easiest of all the standard Series LR engines to work on (well,
       in my opinion anyhoo).

       Nothing wrong with two engines.
I'll be honest though. Those SUs don't look totally ready
yet. They appear to be in more of a lurking state.
       Good stuff.

It depends on how thorough you want to be with this, but if I
was putting carbs on an EFI engine, I'd want to change the
       camshaft too.
An EFI cam has more overlap - hence it'll never run particularly
       sweetly on carbs.
Again, depends how much this kind of thing bothers you, but on a
V8 of unkown history, I'd have the valley gasket off as a matter
of course to inspect the camshaft.
Actually, to be honest, if it was me, whilst the engine was in
that state, I'd have the timing chest off, and the sump off and
maybe even the heads to assess the engine condition.
Again, depends what you want from the conversion. If you just
want to throw something V8 shaped into the engine bay that makes
       V8 noises..... Dmmy spit

       It's a known good engine. Done 70k. I can't say I'm going that
deeply. Haven't got the time or money. I doubt the overlap will
       make a noticeable difference anyway??

Personally I don't understand why you are dumping the EFi.
You'll never get the same torque spread with carbs as you would
with EFI and most of the water related problem with EFi kit is
down to cheap (built to a price) electrical connections.

It will run OK but not as smooth as a 'factory' carbed donk
Done this a few times when me and a friend were trialling his
RR, carbs were OK but EFI was GR8, instant POWERRRRRR

Hi mate, glad to see you've got the conversion under way.

I'm watching with interest and will give you pointers if needed.
All looks good so far. Carry on...
