Heavy Duty Springs on 109 Station Wagon?

Just looking at the NOS springs on offer and wondering if it is
a good idea to fit Heavy duty springs to the rear of my 109"
staion wagon? would it have had heavy duty ones to start with or
where they mainly on the military stuff? possibly campers?
I can't envisage I will often have a huge amount of weight in
the back but it is not impossible.
Is this a good idea or will it rattle me around too much a piss
me off, i don't want a really harsh ride if it is avoidable and
the old springs look like they will clean up.
This is what is on at the moment which i suspect may be Heavy
duty but not original :-?

They look like normal Station Wagon springs. We tried HD ones in
the early 1990's (when you could still get genuine ones) and the
ride was inappropriate for an SW - really hard, jiggly and
rattly.

For everyday use, I wouldn't do it, for the reason that Doug
mentions...the ride will be pretty unbearable as you won't have
enough weight on them to ease the ride.
However, for use as a holiday/travelling motor with family and a
pile of tent-type stuff and the kitchen sink in there, I reckon
there'll be just enough to flex them a bit and allow you the
confidence that you can bring back a beach full of pebbles and
shells with the Swingball kit, without testing the suspension.

:thumbs: excellent advice thanks for taking the time to reply,
it is always good to get the oppinion of somebody who has tried
it for themselves, i think i will just clean up the ones I have
for now for normal use they actually look much better than the
photo shows with fresh paint on top.

They also look better than some of the crappy aftermarket
offerings you get nowadays too! I saw some that were down on
the helpers after a matter of months - not good at all.

my new replacements dropped straight onto the helper leaves the
moment I dropped the chassis off the jacks :2mo5pow: to say I
was pissed off is an understatement, unfortunately i'd not
bought them from a shop so I've got to put up with them
