first off, Thanks for the nice comments ;D (does my ego the
world of good ;D )
Bey C, i made my own repair sections, carefully folded in my
vice with a couple of bits of angle as formers, i like making my
own bits when they're relatively simple
Calum, the winch is under my bench which is where it's staying
at present due to the difficulty in replacing it with one in
equally as good a condition (this one is mint with no wear on
the gears) should i ever decide to fit one
Stuey, that was the plan when i built it, the only external
giveaway that something is different is the exhaust i built
and finally
Simes, i don't see the point in replacing something untidily,
for the extra effort involved in building a tidy harness it's
just plain laziness/stupidity to not put in the extra five
minutes, i think the effort was worth it as there's nothing that
lets a motor down more than opening a bonnet on a nice motor and
seeing a mess
that's the only thing i don't like about most V8 conversions,
they're pretty awkward to make look tidy without a fair bit of
extra effort/thought and most folks don't bother :(

not for a while yet if at all ever :P
still got the new suspension to put on and swap the engine,
still needs door seals and i haven't managed to get the vents
closed (the seals seem way too thick ??? ) i also haven't shown
it off properly yet
gotta get my finger out as i'm building Gordon at the moment and
need to pull my new engine out of the donor i bought last week
(i could do with a few weeks of good weather ::) ) i want them
both on the road by LaTP

ok i finally got round to the engine swap regardless of the
weather so i pulled him to bits

swapped all the bits over to the cheap engine i picked up a few
weeks ago

and then put him back together (complete with a pair of H4
headlights i had sitting around)

then horror of horrors the new engine barely ran :WTF clouds of
white smoke of unburnt diesel and it bounced around in the
engine bay like something demented, i cracked the injectors and
found the centre two pots weren't running, pulled those
injectors and replaced them ...
no difference :WTF
pulled the head then to check for valve damage and found two
bores were shagged with steps bigger than my front door :eek:
to say i was gutted is a bit of an understatement but i should
have expected it as the engine was rather cheap rofl
so now it was time to start taking it to bits again and then
drag the disco over and rob the engine out of that ...
5 long days, three engines out, swap over my conversion parts
twice and fit two different engines :haha:
i was bolloxed by the time i'd finished, i'd had two days of
almost continual rain and two days of wet and cold and only one
day of nice weather, i was going soggy and was struggling for
dry rags to keep me going, you might say i was a little
irritable by the time i'd finished
anyway i think i've got the odd coolant leaks sorted, no oil
leaks and it now has an engine that runs as sweet as a nut
again :giddy: just gotta keep a close eye on it as i don't want
to be going through this again any time soon :eek:
