this is a picture of the Chesrfield canal in Retford 1978 after
a worker accidentally pulled the plug after thinking it was a
lump of wood, it was just a few hundred yards from my house,
and geomat has a picture of me stood in the middle of the canal
just a few days after this pic as it dried up very quickly and
took weeks to refill.

his name was Bill Thorpe and hes the one who pulled the plug
that had been there since 1771 and nobody knew about it, the
water drained into the river Idle.

I know it was dark when I called in at your mooring John (winter
2009/2010) but I'm not blind and that isn't it! ???
For a start your barge is floating in that pic, there's no Robin
Reliant moored along side and the old wall isn't black from the
Bitsa parking on top. ;D
I believe your barge is in this picture: (short blue one next to
bridge)
