Empty Argonshield bottle or not?

Here's a daft one....
I picked up a BOC Argonshield Y size bottle from the side of the
road which had been flytipped, thinking it would be useful.
It's bloody heavy and I'd say it's about the manufacturers
stated gross weight of 40Kg.
Only problem is I open the valve and nothing comes out. Is it
possible for a valve assembly to be blocked???
On a related note, is there anywhere I can exchange it for a
refil if it turns out to be empty??

Most likely empty and probably been nicked from somewhere
....when you open an boc account you have to pay a
deposit/rental charge ...so unlikely that anyone would throw a
legit one away.
Take it to boc they should be able to trace the account its
linked to via the bottle serial number .

BOC came and collected mine when it was empty, not on account to
me no questions asked, I'd have kept it if I could have found
some one to fill it for me.

As I replied on t'other forum, these bottles are VERY heavy, not
like the lightweight butane/propane camping bottles.
The weight of the gas is a very small proportion of the total
weight so very difficult to tell if empty or not without a gauge
or opening the valve.
The only way you'll get it swapped is to find somebody with a
BOC contract for that size bottle and see if they'll swap it for
you.
I've got an Energas contract for my mig gas, so can't help, I'm
afraid :haha:

I have a BOC contract for my mig gas (Argoshield) but even if
mine is a size Y the distance between thee and me would wipe out
any savings.

Only just over an hour away.
Might hold that option in reserve if I can't sort something
