How does it come off a 200tdi?
Also is it really necessary to remove the power steering pump
and relocate the alternator when using in a series?

You need to loosen it and spin it off somehow.
It's got a left hand thread and you need a nice flat spanner and
something to stop the hub spinning - IIRC.

It might just come off tomorrow after a night soaked in plus gas

A few good "shock taps" with a hammer will no doubt help it.

There is a proper viscous fan spanner, with a broad and very
flat head with a slight dog-legging on to it. They also come in
two sizes, as I think the V8 hex is larger or smaller, whatever
way around.
They aren't expensive for how usefull they are.

I've a 32mm crows foot somewhere, never found a use for it
before, today could be it's day.

You might find a proper crows foot has too much offset :-?
I've used the proper cranked spanner, borrowed from a local
one-man band LR garage, and I've used a thin open ended spanner.
Both worked well, with just a couple of heavy taps with a hammer
in the right direction :thumbs:

Remove 4 small set screws holding on the fan to the viscous hub,
push the fan back, lean on the drive belt spanner on swift shock
with the hammer and off it came.

I bent the waterpump shaft on my 200tdi when i gave the end of
the viscous spanner a belt with a hammer! :haha:
