       ex-RAF Lightweight (40 AJ 35)

Not that I need any more projects but this Lightweight I
couldn't resist, the left hooker RAF-ness being an added bonus.

Apparently the first owner served in the RAF in Sardinia and
brought it back as a private sale when he came back to the UK.
It's been parked undercover since '99 and has a few ratty bits
on the bulkhead and the vent panel is totally shot but the
chassis and mechanicals are good. Shame about the vile
paintwork! A weekend or two fettling should see it a ticket I
       reckon.

Damn you, Noel! I'm trying to resist thoughts of buying another
Land Rover and I'm tempted towards a lightweight, so this isn't
       helping. :smiley-furious:

Good stuff Noel, looks 79-82'ish? I might be looking for a
       Left hooker myself soon......
Dave, you do realise there not as roomy as a normal SWB don't
       you?

Cheers for that, have sent a request. It would be good to know
       what it got up to.
Dave, resistance is futile. You need another, no two ways about
       it. :smilewide:
Stuey, it's on the V5C as 1980 and it's got a :gay: VIN with a
low number rather than a proper chassis number so I'm guessing
that's about right. Compared to the LHD ambulance it feels as
spacious as Buckingham Palace, no need for Dave to worry. ;-)

       Great addition, Noel.
I'm no 'Walt'...but L-R Military did spawn some pretty
       fun-to-drive 101s and APs.
Are you going back to green, leaving tatty as, or re-redding in
       your signature LT hue? 8)

It's my first experience of a lightweight and it has to be said
the simplicity of the design is attractive. As for the colour I
think I'll have a go at it with some wickedly strong TFR and a
scotchbrite pad to see was is revealed. I suppose being a 1980
it would have been delivered NATO green although there does seem
to be some bronze green appearing in places. I can't find any
photos of RAF Land Rovers in Sardinia so no idea really what it
would have looked like, I think I'll be looking to do it as it
would have been in its RAF days though if I can find out. Bomb
disposal red wings look cool on a lightweight. :smile1
