A few ships that I've snapped on the last couple of trips to the
Isle of Wight
This thing was loading up with JCBs and tractors.

This was probably going somewhere sunny.

This had delivered a load of cars and was heading out in The
Solent.

This and the next two were moored at the jetty for Fawley
refinery. Is this an LPG tanker?

Ah, I thought you might have spotted one of our works ships -
the last one has the right logo on it - one of the two newest in
the fleet, 13,200-TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) Hamburg
Express, if I am not mistaken. If you put 13,200 20' containers
behind each other, the resulting line would be just under 80
kilometres long. Just imagine all the money that are sent back
to China for all the stuff that is coming here on such giants.
No wonder all of Europe is mired in debt :banghead
After all the new movies where shipping containers are
inescapably following me even during evenings at home, I finally
can have a look at a container vessel at a leafer forum, too

Nice pics Dave, I studied at the School of Ocean and Earth
Science which is near the vehicle loading area for those big
carriers and the cruise terminal and there was always something
to see. I did however have to go through a huge carpark of
boingies destined for export every day to get there.
