has any one tried mig welding landy body panels after a few tips
as i am going to try repairing wings and seat box where they
have split.
i have filler wire that worked with tig so should be ok for mig
as well, unfortunatelly not got access to AC tig set any more

I welded up my 80" tub not long ago. both wheel arches had been
munched by the tyres because of shit springs.
Is it a proper synergic ac mig set your using or are you just
putting ali mig wire in a normal mig welder? You will want 100%
Argon gas not argoshield universal.
I've also welded up my front wings because good 80" wings are
none existant.
It welds just like normal aluminium.
I'll see if I have a picture.

Right, I'm not sure how good that will be as I've never tried it
but I believe it's do-able. I suppose it's not really that
important to get a nice looking weld as it will be sanded off
won't it, you just want it to be well stuck.
I've a couple of pics here, a bit shit but you get the gist...
This is the wheel arch, you can't really see but it is just a
raw edge that's been worn away by the tyre, you can see where
I've welded down the front edge aswell and sanded it off.

This is after I've welded a strip on the full length of the tub.

That's a full weld along the flat bit at the back, up around the
arch and the little flat bit at the front.

While your at it, weld up the second light hole and use 2
filament sidelights- looks much better IMHO:
