Would it be an idiotic thing to pressure wash a completely
stripped engine block? Blast out all the oil ways etc

I wouldn't have thought so, as long as there was no sump and you
repeated your action with lots of compressed air afterwards. I'd
also lose no time in re-lubricating afterwards.

Yes I plan on chasing the pressure washer with vast quantities
of wd 40 I dont have an air line to hand sadly. Block is
completely stripped. No sump or even bolts

i really would want to use compressed air to remove 98% of the
water, just tipping it back out isn't the best removal system
even a small compressor will do the job (not 12v tyre inflator
size)

I'd be less keen to do it in that case, perhaps a kindly soul
near you would let you use theirs? If you can be arsed coming to
Surrey you'd be welcome to use mine.

Just do it, as long as you chase with WD40 immediately on bores
and other machined surfaces then you will have no issues. Wipe
dry before WD40 spraying to get the worst of the water off.
If you have electricity to hand then use a hot air gun / wifes
hair drier to help it along just to give you peace of mind.
Completely stripped means core plugs as well in my book .... you
are replacing these as well ??
With core plugs out you can check all water ways are clear
paying special attention to the minor ones.
Stupid ???? certainly not.

Core plugs still in. They look tip top and no signs of weeping
so figured I am probably better off not breaking a perfectly
good seal

Core plugs rot from the inside out, your choice, I only mention
it as it is easier to replace them with the engine on the bench
than in the vehicle.
