Series 2 Barn find?
DIR By: Tight fart

I've found a series 2 "Barn find" for sale, no I'm not telling
you where trol2*
Above ground it looks very (very) original and straight, from
what I can see underneath it looks solid to.
I'm told it is 1959 with a series 1 engine, it's not on the
correct plate as I'm told it was transfered off
but does have a *** """A plate, not sure what to do with it.
I have a 109" that suits my needs better than a 88"
How can I find out a bit more from the chassis no, etc.?

Depends how much they want for it, but you cannot have too many.
going by your tag name a better pitch to buy it would be; "its a
good investment!"

I'm not new on here but don't think I've posted since it
changed.
I've done the deal to buy it and should have it home for the
weekendn, I'll put some pics up then.
If I keep it I'm more inclined to just do a mechanical
restoration, I don't want a "new" looking car.
It has a hard top with split tailgate and I woul probably change
that to full tilt.
I'll google Calvin and see what that is?
I use this name on all sorts, funny nobody else does :bleurgh

Not being a rivet counter (owing to an inability to remember
detail and can't count), I would suggest that the visual
pointers to a 59 er (or even early 60s) would be:
knurly knobs on the vents
bolted on door stay housings
body coloured dash (but denotes pre 67)
lots of lights on the dash
no indicators, or white switch if opt extra (ish)
oil filler panel on the transmission tunnel
All open to debate and being corrected of course. Actual chassis
number is the "proof"

It does have knurly knobs on the vents
It also has indicators, anyway I'll have it home tomorrow and
will
then poke around and see what it's really like :haha:
It does look very original and unspoilt though.

Flipping heck, that's ace! Loving the hardtop without rear
windows. I hope you don't plan on painting it.
